Naomi Hazon

Mini Mensch Educator

Esther Karasenty

Mini Mensch Educator

Naomi grew up as part of the Beth Tikvah community and started working with children at the shul many years ago. She is a seasoned educator with over two decades of experience in both public and private schools in various cities within B.C.

She comes to us after years of teaching on Vancouver Island both as part of Temple Emanuel Hebrew School and as a teacher/administrator with the Greater Victoria School District. She currently works as a part time administrator in the Richmond School District and teaches/specializes in early literacy, learning assistance and Special Education.

Naomi also volunteers much of her time in support of our Shalom Preschool program. As a mum to two daughters, she is excited to be working with our youngest Hebrew school group. She’s looking forward to integrating Jewish holidays, customs, values and Hebrew language learning with literacy and arts based activities for our ‘Mini Menschers’.

Esther Karasenty is originally from Israel, but over the past 18 years she has lived in Mexico, Brazil and now Richmond, BC. She has been working as a teacher at the Beth Tikvah congregation Hebrew School for the past ten years and at the Shalom Early Childcare Program for the past 5 years (both as a childcare provider and as the program manager).

Esther holds qualifications as an Early Childhood Education Educator, and Infant and Toddler Instructor and she has recently obtained qualifications to work with students who have special needs in an early childhood setting.

Esther enjoys working with preschoolers and has a particular interest and commitment towards social and emotional learning. She believes that a socially healthy and emotionally resilient child will be a natural and inquisitive learner.
